Spectra Scientific LLC was created to help local vineyards on the U.S. west coast mitigate disruptions from climate change, after the 2020 wildfires in Oregon and California. The livelihood of vintners around us is on the line, on top of the pandemic, labor shortage, and supply chain disruption.
We believe actions speak louder than words. Besides enology research, there are advances in chemical sensing and machine learning that can be productized quickly. We believe the urgency of this startup comes from the dire needs of the winemakers. When they try to make gorgeous red wines despite these challenges every year, this is the least we can do as scientists in the community.
We would like to take a moment to say “thank you” to the mentors, grape growers, winemakers, scientists, engineers, family members, and business leaders (including OEMBA faculty and cohorts!) who had advised Spectra Scientific. Let’s make this work!
